Mihama-Town Koinomizu Jinja Shrine

A hot shrine among the young: visit and your dreams of love will come true (so they say!)

Koinomizu Jinja Shrine

The deity at Koinomizu Jinja Shrine is a matchmaker who is said to cure lovesickness, and is frequently visited by people who want to succeed in love and couples who have just started going out together. The shrine's name means "water of love." There is a sad tale from the Heian period which has been passed down to the present. It is the tale of Princess Sakurahime, who came to this place in search of water that would cure her lovesickness, only to die before she could reach it. The shrine's sacred water has also been said to prolong life and cure all diseases.
